The magic that makes the gate work. A wormhole is a tunnel bored through space and time, linking two Gates by a shortcut. You step in on one side, your body is dematerialized, transmitted, then rebuilt on arrival. Mind-bending, and at the heart of everything.
Overview
The distances between the stars are monstrous. Traveling from one world to another should take centuries. The wormhole solves the problem by cheating the laws of physics: it folds space to connect two very distant points directly. When the gate locks onto an address, this bridge opens, stable, long enough for a crossing.
History
The wormhole has strict rules. It only works one way: you go in through the departure gate and come out through the arrival gate, never the reverse. And it only stays open for a limited time. But its physics hold some crazy surprises: a wormhole that passes close to a massive star can send travelers back in time, or deliver them to the wrong place. The gate hasn't finished giving up its secrets.
