History of the universe
Not the history of the production, but the history of the universe itself: from the Ancients to the Ori, the thread of the major events that shaped the saga.
In their home galaxy, the Alterans are torn apart by a rift with their brothers, the future Ori, who descend into fanaticism. Rather than wage war, the Alterans flee aboard a ship and reach the Milky Way. They will become known as the Ancients.
Settled in the Milky Way, the Ancients build the vast Stargate network and seed countless worlds with human life.
Intrigued by a structure hidden in the background radiation of the universe, the Ancients launch Destiny: a ship that drops Stargates along its path, galaxy after galaxy.
A devastating plague wipes out the Ancients. Many choose ascension: they leave their bodies behind to become beings of pure energy. Others choose to leave.
A group of Ancients takes the city of Atlantis and sets course for the distant Pegasus galaxy to start over.
There, an experiment goes wrong: contact with a local life form gives rise to the Wraith, predators who feed on human life force.
Overwhelmed by the Wraith after a century of war, the Ancients sink Atlantis to the bottom of the ocean and return to the Milky Way.
Back on Earth, the last survivors blend in with early humanity before dying out or ascending, leaving behind a quiet genetic legacy.
On a swampy world, the Goa'uld evolve. They first enslave the Unas, then discover that humans make the perfect host.
The Goa'uld Ra discovers Earth, turns it into his reservoir of slaves and hosts, and scatters humanity across the galaxy through the Stargate.
An uprising drives Ra off Earth. The Stargate is buried and forgotten for millennia. To protect themselves, the Goa'uld make the Jaffa their soldiers, carriers of their larvae.
The Ancients, the Asgard, the Nox and the Furlings form the alliance of the most advanced civilizations, each watching over the balance of the galaxies in its own way.
In the early 20th century, an expedition unearths the ancient ring in Egypt. Its secret will hold out for decades more, until a determined archaeologist, Catherine Langford, refuses to let it go.
Deciphering the gate finally opens a passage to other worlds. The Stargate program is born, and Earth, the Tau'ri, enters the big leagues.
Jaffa rebellions, Tok'ra strikes and the Dakara weapon bring about the collapse of the Goa'uld empire, and with it the destruction of the Replicators.
Tyrannical ascended beings impose their religion, Origin, by fire. The galaxy is plunged into a war as spiritual as it is military, until the Ori are finally defeated.
Ravaged by an incurable genetic degeneration, the Asgard hand over all of their knowledge to Earth, then vanish together. Earth becomes the heir of the Ancients.
Far from everything, a group of survivors from Earth stumbles aboard Destiny by accident, and the ship resumes its ages-old journey into the unknown.
