What if a Stargate were big enough to let an entire fleet through? That's the Supergate. The Ori built it to pour their ships from one galaxy into another. And the day it opens, the invasion begins.
Overview
A regular gate sends people through, one at a time. The Supergate, on the other hand, measures several kilometers across. Its wormhole is vast enough for entire motherships to pass through. It's no longer a tool for exploration, it's a bridge between galaxies, built for war on a massive scale.
History
The Ori don't build it out of curiosity. They build it to bring their crusading fleet into the Milky Way. Its activation marks a terrible turning point: from then on, the enemy is no longer at the other end of the universe, it's on our doorstep. The Supergate is the moment the Ori threat stops being distant and becomes a very real invasion.
