Overview
Once activated, this small device wraps its wearer in a bubble of energy. Bullets bounce off, blows never land, even a fall of several stories does nothing. In the field, it turns a mere human into a target that's impossible to hit. McKay will find this out for himself, both giddy and a little overwhelmed by the power.
History
But the shield has its rules, and they're nasty ones. It draws on a power reserve that eventually runs dry, sometimes at the worst possible moment. And as long as it's active, it can block things as simple as eating or drinking. Ancient technology is wonderful, but it never lets itself be used without understanding the instruction manual. A lesson the program often learns the hard way.
