The Ancient chamber that puts a being into a timeless sleep, preserving them for centuries. The stasis pod is life on pause, waiting on a scale of millennia.
Overview
The Ancient stasis pod slows a body's functions to the extreme, freezing it in an endless sleep. Whoever enters it barely ages at all, and can thus cross centuries, even millennia, before waking.
A technology that defies time itself.
History
Stasis is often a last resort: buying time when all immediate hope is lost. That's how an Ancient, or Elizabeth Weir, or O'Neill carrying the Ancients' knowledge, falls asleep to wait for distant rescue.
The stasis pod embodies suspended hope: not dying, but waiting, sometimes for a very long time, for the world to change enough to offer a way out.
