The Goa'uld who stole Sha're's body. Behind the face of Daniel Jackson's wife hid Amaunet, the consort of Apophis, a ruthless queen willing to do anything for her master.
Overview
Amaunet is one of the most painful figures of the early seasons. A Goa'uld queen and Apophis's consort, she takes as her host Sha're, Daniel Jackson's wife, abducted in the very pilot of the series. Behind the face of the woman he loves, Daniel has to confront a goddess with nothing human left in her.
Her story
Chosen by Apophis to carry his queen, Sha're vanishes in agony, her mind imprisoned deep within her own body. Amaunet reigns in her place, cruel and sure of her power. She gives birth to a Harcesis child, Shifu, who carries all the knowledge of the Goa'uld, a treasure every System Lord covets.
For seasons, Daniel refuses to give up on saving his wife. But Amaunet has no mercy. Their confrontation ends in blood, when Teal'c kills the queen to save Daniel. Sha're returns only long enough for one last goodbye. It is one of the founding tragedies of Stargate.
The actor
Amaunet is played by Vaitiare Bandera, who also plays Sha're. The Tahitian-born actress, once James Cameron's partner, gives the Goa'uld queen an icy stare that contrasts with the gentleness of the young woman from Abydos.
