A feline-headed Goa'uld System Lord, Bastet sat among the galaxy's most powerful lords before the rise of Anubis reshuffled the deck.
Overview
Bastet belongs to the very exclusive circle of the Goa'uld System Lords, the lords who carve up the galaxy among themselves like so many gods. Inspired by the cat goddess of ancient Egypt, she rules with the same arrogance as her peers, obsessed with power and survival.
Her story
We meet her at the great summit of the System Lords, gathered to decide the fate of their threatened empire. Allied for a time with other lords, Bastet embodies a Goa'uld nobility always ready to betray for a little more territory.
Like many of her peers, she is eventually swept away by the war pitting the System Lords against Anubis, then against Ba'al. Above all, her name is a reminder of how thoroughly the Goa'uld plundered Earth's mythologies to pass themselves off as gods.
