Amaterasu

Amaterasu is a Goa'uld System Lord who borrows her name from the Japanese sun goddess. Along with Yu and Camulus, she is part of the delegation of lords who come seeking an alliance with Earth against the rise of Ba'al.

With their empire tottering, the System Lords are reduced to negotiating with those they once despised. Amaterasu embodies the realpolitik of Goa'uld with their backs to the wall, ready to ally with Earth just long enough to get rid of a rival.

Haughty and calculating, she is nonetheless one despot among many. Amaterasu illustrates the decline of the false gods, forced to scheme and compromise where they once laid down the law.

Amaterasu is played by Kira Clavell, a Canadian actress. She gives the System Lord the cold elegance and arrogance befitting a Goa'uld who thinks she is a goddess.
