The enemy within: a shadowy cabal, born on Earth, that wants to get its hands on alien technology at any cost.
Overview
The Trust is the threat that comes from Earth itself. A secret organization, born in the wake of the intelligence services, that wants to seize alien technology no matter the cost. Worse still: the day the Goa'uld infiltrate it, it becomes a Trojan horse at the very heart of the planet.
History
The Trust brings together people convinced that the Stargate program is far too cautious. They want the aliens' weapons right now, and to hell with the rules. Technology theft, illegal operations, assassinations: they act behind the government's back, convinced they're right and the whole world is wrong.
Where things get truly dangerous is when the Goa'uld, starting with Ba'al, quietly take control of the organization. Suddenly, this human cabal turns into a tool in the enemy's hands, ready to poison entire planets in the name of a crusade as brutal as it is blind.
The Trust is a reminder of an uncomfortable truth: Earth doesn't need enemies from space to put itself in danger. Sometimes, the threat grows right inside its own walls.
Origins
The Trust embodies a very contemporary fear: that of the enemy within, the hidden power operating in the shadow of the state. It's the myth of the “deep state,” the idea that behind the visible institutions there's a parallel hierarchy secretly pulling the strings of power.
The concept is as old as it is debated. Originally coined to describe certain regimes, it's now taken up by analysts and conspiracy theories alike, and it stirs the political imagination of our time: a cabal that believes itself above the law, convinced it's working for the greater good while escaping all oversight.
Stargate adds a cruel twist: by playing with alien fire, these sorcerer's apprentices end up manipulated by the very thing they claimed to control.
