Staff Weapon
- Origin
- Goa'uld / Jaffa
- Type
- Energy weapon
- Distinction
- Also a symbol of rank

The iconic weapon of the Jaffa, both ceremonial lance and fire-spitting rifle. The staff weapon is the symbol of the warrior serving false gods, fearsome and theatrical.
Overview
The staff weapon is the weapon of choice of the Jaffa, the warriors of the Goa'uld. As long as a spear, it opens at its tip to fire powerful energy blasts, capable of killing with a single shot.
Less accurate than an Earth weapon but devastating, it commands respect on the battlefield.
History
Carrying a staff weapon means displaying your status as a warrior in the service of a god. It is as much a tool of ceremony and intimidation as a combat weapon.
That's why Teal'c stays attached to it: wielding it means claiming the warrior heritage of the Jaffa, while turning it against those who enslaved them. The staff weapon embodies, all on its own, the whole ambiguity of the Jaffa people.
