Overview
Much of the Ancients' technology only activates with a particular gene, passed down to a rare few descendants. Without it, there's no flying a Puddle Jumper or activating the control chair. Dr. Beckett develops a therapy capable of giving this gene to humans who didn't have it.

The treatment doesn't always work, and some take to it better than others, like Sheppard, who was born with a naturally very strong gene.
