Endgame is episode 10 of season 8 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2004.
The Stargate vanishes from the SGC, beamed away in the middle of the night: the Trust has a Goa'uld ship in orbit. Their plan is chilling: bombarding Jaffa worlds with symbiote poison, a preventive genocide carried out in Earth's name. SG-1 has to get the ring back before the allies declare war on all of humanity.
Why it matters to the mythology
The Trust moves from blackmail to mass murder: entire Jaffa worlds die, and the allies' trust with them.
The review
The episode where the Trust stops being a knockoff NID and becomes a real horror: the gassing of entire planets, shown without varnish, puts these businessmen on a level with the worst Goa'uld. Stealing the gate itself is a gleefully bold storytelling move; the series dares to kidnap its own title. The final assault, with stealth in space, is briskly handled. One of the darkest episodes of the season, and one of the most necessary.
