Into the Fire is episode 1 of season 3 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 1999.
SG-1 is Hathor's prisoner. She plays the fake-awakening card to extract their secrets, then pulls out the big guns: a symbiote for O'Neill. Rescue comes from every direction at once: from Teal'c, who raises an army of free Jaffa on Chulak, from General Hammond, who heads to the front himself, and from a Tok'ra undercover in just the right place.
Why it matters to the mythology
Hathor is taken out of the game for good, and the seed of the Jaffa rebellion sprouts on a large scale for the first time.
The review
A generous resolution that runs a little in every direction, but what a pleasure to see Hammond in the field, gun in hand, earning his reputation as a combat general. The last-second cryogenics that save Jack border on the easy way out, and Hathor probably deserved a grander exit. Still, it's an energetic season opener that settles the accounts and frees up the season for what's next. Decent, nothing more.
