Out of Mind is episode 22 of season 2 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 1998.
O'Neill wakes up at the SGC... in 2077. He's told that his entire team has been dead for decades and is pressed to hand over his memories, recorded by a memory machine. The inconsistencies pile up, and the truth comes out: Hathor has built a fake SGC to suck out Earth's secrets, and the worst awaits the team when they wake up.
Why it matters to the mythology
Hathor finally gets her revenge and captures SG-1: the cliffhanger sends the series toward its season 3 resolution.
The review
Yes, it's a clip show; half the running time recycles memories from the first two seasons. But the packaging is far above the genre average: the fake future is unsettling, the mystery works, and the Hathor reveal sends chills down your spine. The final cliffhanger, with that symbiote writhing over a strapped-down O'Neill, is one of the most anxiety-inducing in the franchise. For an exercise forced by the budget, it's fine work.
