Holiday is episode 17 of season 2 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 1998.
In a forgotten storehouse, the team finds a dying old man surrounded by strange inventions: Machello, the legendary enemy of the Goa'uld. His last invention swaps minds, and the old fox steals Daniel's body to treat himself to a second youth. The malfunctioning machine ends up mixing everyone up: Teal'c in O'Neill, O'Neill in Teal'c, and chaos at the SGC.
Why it matters to the mythology
Machello dies here, but his booby-trapped inventions will keep wreaking havoc for seasons.
The review
The body swap, a required exercise for any science fiction series, and Stargate pulls it off thanks to its actors: Christopher Judge as a grumpy O'Neill and Richard Dean Anderson as a solemn Teal'c are worth the trip on their own. Behind the comedy, the portrait of Machello is surprisingly sad: a genius who sacrificed everything to his revenge and steals a life because he never lived his own. A good minor vintage.
