Midway is episode 17 of season 4 of Stargate Atlantis, first aired in 2007.
Midway Station, the relay between the two galaxies, falls to a Wraith commando: the enemy has cracked the gate bridge code and is aiming for Earth at the end of the tunnel. Aboard are two guests on a stopover, Ronon and Teal'c, fresh from a glaring contest, who must clear the station and then the SGC, shoulder to shoulder.
Why it matters to the mythology
Midway Station is destroyed stopping the incursion: the intergalactic bridge suffers its first major disaster.
The review
The muscular crossover everyone was waiting for: Ronon and Teal'c, two schools of lethal silence, go from rooster rivalry to trench brotherhood with infectious pleasure. The Wraith assault on Midway and then the SGC embraces pure action movie, corridors, gunfire and hand-to-hand combat, and the destruction of the station is a reminder that the series knows how to sacrifice its toys. The final two-man decompression airlock is the cherry on top. Generous and relentless.
