Trio is episode 16 of season 4 of Stargate Atlantis, first aired in 2007.
Carter, Keller and McKay fall through a booby-trapped floor and wake up at the bottom of an abandoned geothermal cistern: smooth walls, seismic tremors, no radio. Three brains, two egos and a medical kit to improvise pulleys, scaffolding and makeshift diplomacy while the structure collapses piece by piece.
Why it matters to the mythology
A standalone episode: a three-person escape exercise, and the first real one-on-one between Keller and McKay. Take notes.
The review
Trio in a hole: a literal escape room episode, driven by the mechanics of personality, Carter structuring, McKay brilliantly catastrophizing, Keller discovering her own nerve. The solutions fail with delightful logic, every plan B giving birth to a problem C. And beneath the rubble, the Keller-McKay romance sprouts, planted as if by accident. A small, unpretentious survival play, carefully executed. Enjoyable.
