The Kindred (Part 1) is episode 18 of season 4 of Stargate Atlantis, first aired in 2007.
A plague sweeps the worlds of Pegasus, the Hoffan serum again, but distributed blindly: Michael is inoculating the galaxy to poison the Wraith's pantry. In the middle of the chaos, a merchant sells an incredible piece of information: Kanaan, the father of Teyla's child, may be alive. The lead is a trap, and Teyla falls into the hands of Michael, who wants her baby.

Michael goes galactic and abducts Teyla: the Athosian child becomes the key to his great hybrid work.
The review
The season tightens its grip: Michael stops being a lab monster and becomes a demographic strategist, starving the Wraith by sacrificing humans, and his logic is dizzying. The hope of Kanaan, dangled and then snapped shut like a bear trap, is perfectly cruel to Teyla. The team is one step behind on everything, and this organized helplessness sets up what follows beautifully. A flawless first installment.
