The technology that has let the Asgard be reborn, from cloned body to cloned body, for millennia. Asgard cloning is their secret of immortality, and the cause of their slow death.
Overview
The Asgard stopped reproducing a very long time ago: they survive by transferring their consciousness from one cloned body to another. At the end of each life, the mind passes into a new clone, preserving the individual through the ages.
A form of immortality that makes the Asgard a people of boundless wisdom.
History
But this miracle is also their curse: by cloning clones over and over, their genetic heritage degrades beyond repair. Each generation is a little more fragile than the last.
Asgard cloning embodies the terrible price of artificial immortality. What was meant to save them condemns them to slowly die out, driving the most brilliant among them to search desperately for a way out.
