On Orban, it's the children who hold the knowledge. Thanks to tiny machines lodged in their brains, the young Urrone absorb immense knowledge, then share it with their whole people in one go. A wonderful gift, and a heartbreaking sacrifice.
Overview
The Orbanians entrust learning to their children, the Urrone, whose brains host nanites that store a colossal amount of knowledge. These children become the experts of an entire civilization, pampered and admired by all.
History
But when the day comes, the Urrone give everything: their nanites are passed on to the rest of the people, and the child, emptied of all that knowledge, becomes like an infant who has to relearn everything. SG-1 watches, deeply shaken, as this sacrifice is accepted. Orban is Stargate questioning what a society is willing to ask of its own children.
