A planet protected for generations by a weapon no one can see: the Sentinel. As long as it stands watch, no Goa'uld fleet can set foot there. But invisible protection always ends up attracting greed and recklessness.
Overview
The Sentinel is a device left behind by an advanced civilization: a defensive weapon capable of sweeping away any threat in orbit, provided it is tended by guardians trained to control it with their minds. For generations, it kept the Goa'uld at bay and made Latona a sanctuary.
Its story
Everything falls apart when the machine is knocked out of action at the worst possible moment, leaving the planet defenseless against the System Lord Svarog. SG-1, backed by Maybourne's team, has to repair what was broken and convince the guardians to take up their role again. The lesson is a hard one: a weapon, however powerful, is only as good as the people who serve it.
