Overview
Rya'c is the son of Teal'c. Growing up with a father who betrayed the gods means growing up in constant danger. From the child kidnapped to put pressure on his father to the young warrior who in turn chooses the side of freedom, Rya'c carries the full weight of a legacy.
History
As Teal'c's son, Rya'c pays the price of his father's rebellion very early on. Kidnapped, manipulated, used as leverage, he becomes a target for enemies trying to get at the great Jaffa warrior.
But Rya'c grows up, and he makes his choice. Following in the footsteps of his father and his mentor Bra'tac, he takes up the cause of Jaffa freedom himself and becomes a fighter in his own right. His wedding, disrupted by the Goa'uld, and his reunions with Teal'c are among the most personal moments of the saga.
Rya'c embodies the next generation: the one born into the revolt, growing up with the hope of a people finally free.
The actor
Rya'c is played by Neil Denis, a Canadian actor born in the Seychelles in 1987. He grew up with the role, appearing in a handful of episodes spread over nearly seven years, which let Teal'c's son age on screen, from child to young man.
A low-key but consistent run that gives the character real continuity, season after season.
