The tyrannical lord of an isolated city, ruling through fear from the top of his tower. Otho is the despot of Pegasus, cruel and decadent.
Overview
Otho is the lord of a human city in Pegasus, built around a tower that is in fact an ancient structure built by the Ancients. From its summit, he rules over an enslaved population as a cruel and capricious tyrant.
His story
Otho embodies absolute, corrupt power: snug in his gilded tower, he bleeds his people dry with taxes and keeps them in fear, knowing nothing of the true nature of his throne.
The arrival of the Atlantis team shakes his reign by revealing the tower's secrets. Otho is one of those two-bit potentates the saga loves to topple, petty tyrants sitting on a power they don't even understand.
The actor
Otho is played by Peter Woodward, a British actor dear to science fiction fans for his role as the technomage Galen in the Babylon 5 universe. He gives the tyrant a deliciously theatrical arrogance.
