An Ascended Ancient who gives up his immortality for the love of Samantha Carter. Orlin is the ultimate sacrifice: giving up everything, twice, for a woman and for Earth.
Overview
Orlin is an Ascended Ancient who commits his species' ultimate sin: intervening in the world of mortals. Having fallen in love with Samantha Carter, he chooses to become human again to be with her.
His story
Hopelessly smitten, Orlin materializes at Carter's home and secretly cobbles together a Stargate in her basement. His touching gesture turns to drama when his former peers call him to order.
Much later, he sacrifices himself a second time, reincarnating as a child to give Earth a weapon against the Ori, at the cost of his own memory. Twice, Orlin gives everything. He's one of the most moving characters in the saga.
The actors
Orlin has two faces: as an adult, he's played by Sean Patrick Flanery, who rose to fame in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles; as a child, by young Cameron Bright, future vampire of the Twilight saga. Two actors for one and the same sacrifice.
