One of the greatest scientific minds among the Asgard, searching for a solution to her people's slow extinction. Heimdall is intelligence in the service of an entire race's survival.
Overview
Heimdall is a leading Asgard scientist, engaged in her people's most vital fight: finding a cure for the genetic degeneration that threatens the Asgard with extinction. A valuable ally of Earth, on the science side.
Her story
The Asgard have been cloning themselves for countless generations, and the practice is slowly dooming them. Heimdall desperately seeks a way out, notably by studying ancient preserved Asgard specimens, in the hope of finding a healthy genetic heritage in them.
Her research crosses paths with SG-1, with whom the Asgard maintain a rare and precious alliance. Heimdall embodies the scientific hope of a dying people.
Despite all her efforts, the fate of the Asgard will remain tragic, but Heimdall represents what is noblest about them: intelligence placed in the service of life.
The voice
Like all Asgard, Heimdall is a computer-generated character, brought to life by a voice. A treat for fans: that voice belongs to Teryl Rothery, the actress who also plays Dr. Janet Fraiser.
The same performer for two benevolent figures of the saga, one human, the other from the stars.
