The second commander of the Prometheus, Earth's first great starship. Pendergast is the captain who leads Earth through its first space battles, all the way to the ultimate sacrifice.
Overview
Colonel Lionel Pendergast takes command of the Prometheus, the first warship built by Earth, after Colonel Ronson. A calm and courageous officer, he leads the ship through many decisive engagements.
His story
At the helm of the Prometheus, and later other ships, Pendergast is part of every one of Earth's great space battles, against the Goa'uld and the Ori alike. He is a respected captain who bears the weight of those engagements.
His story ends as a hero's: he goes down with his ship, sacrificing it to protect Earth. Pendergast embodies the first generation of Earth fleet commanders, those who learned, in blood, how to wage war among the stars.
The actor
Pendergast is played by Barclay Hope, a Canadian actor also known to science fiction fans for his appearances in Battlestar Galactica. He gives the commander a quiet authority.
