Overview
Colonel Chekov is Russia's liaison to the Stargate program, after Moscow obtained its share of the Stargate's secret. Wary and a stickler for procedure, he fiercely defends Russian interests.
His story
Chekov embodies the saga's geopolitical dimension: the Stargate isn't just an American affair, and the great powers want their say. His dealings with the SGC swing between rivalry and cooperation.
But faced with the Goa'uld and then the Ori, the common interest always wins out in the end. Beneath his rigid exterior, Chekov becomes a reliable partner. He is a reminder that, under threat of extinction, humanity must learn to move beyond its old divisions.
The actor
Chekov is played by Garry Chalk, a British-Canadian actor with a powerful voice and a giant of animation voice work, notably in the Transformers universe. He gives the Russian officer all his stature.
