An NID colonel willing to do anything to seize alien technology. Simmons is the enemy within, treason in uniform, played by Star Trek's Q.
Overview
Colonel Frank Simmons is an NID agent obsessed with getting his hands on the technology brought back by the Stargate program. Manipulative and unscrupulous, he becomes one of SG-1's recurring human adversaries.
His story
Simmons schemes, lies and betrays in the name of personal power disguised as national interest. He doesn't hesitate to ally himself with the worst enemies to achieve his ends.
His thirst for power will be his undoing: he ends up as the host of a Goa'uld symbiote, completing his transformation into a monster. Simmons illustrates the saga's recurring threat, the one that comes not from the stars but from Earth, from those who dream of exploiting the Stargate for themselves alone.
The actor
Simmons is played by John de Lancie, an American actor with cult status for a legendary role: Q, the mischievous, all-powerful entity of Star Trek. A regular at devious characters, perfect as a crooked agent.
