Overview
Dr. Alison Porter is a scientist of the Atlantis expedition, assigned to Major Teldy's field team. She brings her expertise to missions where science is as crucial as a rifle.
Her story
Porter embodies the marriage, so typical of the franchise, between military muscle and scientific brainpower. Sent into the field, she faces situations far more perilous than anything in a lab.
A member of Teldy's all-female team, she is part of the breath of diversity brought to the ranks of Atlantis in the final seasons. Porter is a reminder that on Atlantis, survival often depends as much on a sound scientific diagnosis as on a quick trigger finger.
The actress
Porter is played by Nicole deBoer, a Canadian actress well known to science fiction fans for a major role: Ezri Dax in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She gives the scientist an endearing liveliness.
