Homecoming is episode 2 of season 7 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2003.
The trap set for Anubis has half worked: his superweapon ship is crippled, but he still has a fleet, and he's heading straight for Kelowna to drain its naquadria reserves. Jonas, a prisoner, resists the mind probes while Earth and the rebel Jaffa join the battle. In the end, a seat opens up on the team, and two men hand it over to each other with grace.
Why it matters to the mythology
Jonas goes home to serve his world and Daniel takes back his chair: the original SG-1 lineup is restored.
The review
The handover from Jonas to Daniel is the episode's real subject, and it's handled with rare class: no artificial rivalry, just two good men who respect each other, and a Jonas who leaves bigger than he came, a hero of his own world. Corin Nemec carried the most thankless role in the franchise with dignity. The Kelownan action does the job, Ba'al quietly gains ground on Anubis behind the scenes, and the series gets its original balance back. Clean and moving.
