Fallen is episode 1 of season 7 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2003.
On a remote world, nomads take in a naked, amnesiac man who fell from the sky: Daniel Jackson, come down from ascension without a single memory of his life or of his year among the Ancients. While the team helps him put the pieces back together, the translation of a tablet reveals a huge lead: the Lost City of the Ancients, and a plan to set the trap of a lifetime for Anubis.
Why it matters to the mythology
Daniel is back among mortals, cast out for wanting to act: the search for the Lost City, a thread running all the way to the movie, begins here.
The review
Michael Shanks's return is handled with disarming tenderness: Daniel choosing the name Arrom, the forgotten one, and rediscovering his friends as kindly strangers is devastating in its restraint. Each member of the team comes to find him in their own way, and the scene where Jack simply holds out his hand is worth more than any speech. The final assault on Anubis's ship launches the season at full throttle. A successful reunion.
