Fallout is episode 14 of season 7 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2003.
Jonas comes back to ask for help: a giant vein of unstable naquadria threatens to blow Kelowna apart, and the planet's three nations, barely reconciled, are at each other's throats on the edge of the abyss. The plan: drill through the crust to detonate the pocket deep underground, with Carter and Jonas inside the drill. Geopolitics, however, isn't so easy to drill through.
Why it matters to the mythology
A last visit to Kelowna and a final farewell to Jonas Quinn, who closes his arc as the savior of his world.
The review
Journey to the Center of the Earth, Stargate-style, with a B-movie drilling rig and backroom negotiations: the combination is wobbly but likable. The real pleasure is seeing Jonas one last time, at peace, where he belongs, with a hint of unfulfilled chemistry with his colleague Kianna, whose secret spices up the second act. The character's exit lacks a little solemnity, but the essentials are there: he ends up at home, useful and respected. Farewell, smiling friend.
