Sight Unseen is episode 13 of season 6 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2002.
An Ancient artifact brought back from a mission scrambles Jonas's perception: he sees creatures flying through the SGC's corridors, giant insects from another dimension that no one else can see. The hallucination becomes contagious, spreads to O'Neill, then to the nearby town, and the quarantine falls apart. The monster isn't dangerous; the panic is.
Why it matters to the mythology
A standalone episode: one more demonstration that the Ancients' toys are beyond their users.
The review
A fun concept, harmless interdimensional bugs triggering a national crisis, handled as an easygoing little B-movie. The countryside part, with the paranoid gas station attendant on the run, pads things out a bit, but the idea that the real threat is fear itself is very much in the house spirit. Jonas keeps earning his stripes as a full-fledged member. Entertaining, quickly watched, quickly forgotten.
