Revelations is episode 22 of season 5 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2001.
The Asgard have lost Thor, who has fallen into Osiris's hands, and a secret lab hidden beneath a desolate landscape: there, Heimdall guards the last genetic hope of a people cloning itself to death. SG-1 heads back to the front without Daniel, each of them grieving in their own way, and discovers that Thor's consciousness, forcibly plugged into the computer of Anubis's ship, hasn't said its last word.
Why it matters to the mythology
The Asgard's genetic decline is revealed, Anubis shows off his technological toys, and the team learns to exist without its archaeologist.
The review
Getting back on the road right after "Meridian" was the real challenge, and the episode meets it by making grief its driving force: Jack refusing to talk about it, Sam breaking down mid-mission, Teal'c honoring him in his own way. The Asgard plot is solid, Heimdall is adorable in his scientific enthusiasm, and Thor as a ghost in the machine offers a nice twist. A muted, dignified season finale that closes the darkest year of the series.
