Morpheus is episode 2 of season 10 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2006.
On Vagonbrei, a village asleep for eternity: its inhabitants died of sleep, victims of a parasite that makes people doze until they never wake up. SG-1 explores, yawns, and understands too late that the local legend is a diagnosis. The race against the sandman begins, with strong coffee and harsh light at the ready.
Why it matters to the mythology
A standalone episode in the hunt for the Sangraal: one more dead end on the map, but the first step in Merlin's puzzle.
The review
A survival story that's soporific in the literal sense, and that's its perverse charm: watching the team fight their own eyelids produces fairly novel scenes of cottony dread. The village frozen in dust is a successful set; the parasite, on the other hand, stays incidental. A minor episode worth watching for its deadly-nap atmosphere and two or three well-aimed jabs from a Mitchell at the end of his rope. Decent, no more.
