The Broca Divide is episode 4 of season 1 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 1997.
A planet split in two: one side in light, one in darkness, and a population regressing to a primitive state. The affliction comes through the gate and spreads through the entire base, turning soldiers and scientists into savage brutes. It's Dr. Janet Fraiser who finds the cure, in her first big moment.

The series' first quarantine episode, and already a nicely oiled machine: an invisible illness, a base that snaps shut like a trap, and fear turning disciplined soldiers into animals. It's still unabashed B-movie fare, with slightly goofy caveman makeup, but the episode introduces a key character: Janet Fraiser, the pint-sized doctor who stands up to everyone. For her alone, it matters.
