Harmony is episode 14 of season 4 of Stargate Atlantis, first aired in 2007.
A royal escort mission: Harmony, thirteen, heir to the local throne, must complete her coming-of-age pilgrimage through a forest infested with hostile Genii, with Sheppard and McKay as bodyguards. The girl is imperious, insufferable, smitten with the colonel and cruel to the scientist. The official portrait that concludes the adventure says more than any story.
Why it matters to the mythology
A standalone episode: a picaresque outing with no consequences, apart from a pocket-sized royal ally and a pictorial humiliation for McKay.
The review
Fifty pounds of royal sarcasm: Harmony is brilliantly obnoxious, and the Sheppard-McKay duo as overwhelmed babysitters works like an old Italian comedy couple. The series aims at nothing but pleasure, ambushes included, and owns it with infectious lightness. The final painting, Sheppard heroic and McKay trembling in the background, is the perfect punchline. A treat with no mythological calories, but a successful treat.
