Divided is episode 12 of season 1 of Stargate Universe, first aired in 2009.
Civil war breaks out aboard: the civilians, led by Rush and Wray, lock down the vital sections and take control of Destiny while the military are off ship. A siege sets in, supplies against systems, and the aliens choose this moment to come back for their property. The mutiny ends in a bitter truce: nobody won, and everyone has counted their loyalties.
Why it matters to the mythology
The civilian-military rift becomes official: the ship now has two factions, and an alien tracker hidden in Rush's chest.
The review
The political chamber piece the series had been building toward since the pilot: the mutiny has no heroes or villains, just two legitimate fears clashing through locked airlocks. Wray gains her definitive depth here, an idealist caught between her principles and her alliances. The alien attack in the middle of the internal crisis adds the perfect irony, the outside enemy as the only glue. The castaways' fleet is a powder keg, and the series says so bluntly. Tense and intelligent.
