Lost City (Part 2) is episode 22 of season 7 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2003.
The Lost City isn't on some distant world: the Ancients' treasure lies sleeping beneath the ice of Antarctica, where it all began. While President Hayes puts Kinsey in his place and the Prometheus holds off Anubis's fleet above the pole, O'Neill, almost entirely taken over by Ancient knowledge, guides the team to the outpost and unleashes the builders' weapon: a swarm of golden drones that shatters the apocalypse.
Why it matters to the mythology
The Antarctic outpost revealed, Anubis's fleet annihilated, O'Neill in stasis: the finale that lays the foundation for both season 8 and Stargate Atlantis.
The review
The climax seven seasons had been building to: the Battle of Antarctica remains the series' spectacular high point, and that swarm of drones tearing through the sky and Anubis's fleet is worth every blockbuster of its day. But the real greatness is intimate: Jack fading word after word and sealing his own coffin of ice while murmuring "Dormata" is a farewell worthy of an ancient hero. Hayes dismissing Kinsey in a single sentence is the political cherry on top. All of Stargate converges here, and all of Atlantis will be born from it. Monumental.
