Evolution (Part 2) is episode 12 of season 7 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2003.
While Jack and an extraction team follow Daniel and Lee's trail through the jungle, Telchak's device awakens a thousand-year-old problem: the box drives anyone who gets near it mad and makes them nearly immortal. Out in space, Carter, Teal'c and Jacob infiltrate Anubis's factory planet to steal a Kull warrior at the source. The two fronts converge on a new weapon.
Why it matters to the mythology
The anti-Kull weapon is born from the very technology that drives them: the first real counterweight to Anubis's army.
The review
The second part keeps up the pace by running its two plots with precision: the Honduran rescue embraces its near-silent commando side, O'Neill at his most lethal, while the space infiltration delivers its share of corridors and familiar tension. The local zombie created by Telchak's box adds a welcome dose of folk horror. Altogether it strengthens the season: Anubis has an army, and now we have a gun. The war can go on. A solid two-parter.
