Nightwalkers is episode 5 of season 6 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2002.
In a small coastal town in Oregon, people are sleeping badly: at night, some of them get up, work in a hangar and remember nothing in the morning. Carter, Teal'c and Jonas investigate amid diners, a sheriff and a wall of silence, and discover cloned immature symbiotes steering their sleeping hosts, busy building themselves a ship to escape.
Why it matters to the mythology
A standalone episode: fallout from Adrian Conrad's secret cloning program, cleanly wiped out by the team.
The review
Stargate treats itself to an unabashed X-Files episode, foggy small town and underground conspiracy included, and the change of scenery is welcome. The trio without O'Neill works surprisingly well, with Carter gaining authority as lead investigator. The concept of the nighttime possessed is catchy, even if the resolution wraps things up a bit too quickly. A well-made atmospheric breather.
