The Curse is episode 13 of season 4 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 2000.
The death of his old mentor brings Daniel back to Egyptology, to dusty museums... and to Sarah Gardner, his former research partner. Osiris was sleeping in a forgotten canopic jar, and the Goa'uld has found a host: Sarah. Daniel's past turns against him as the old rival of Isis and Ra regains a foothold in the galaxy.
Why it matters to the mythology
Osiris escapes with Sarah's body: a future lieutenant of Anubis has just been born, and Daniel takes on one more personal debt.

The review
The return to its Egyptological roots does the series a world of good: museums, hieroglyphs, academic jealousies; we get back the Daniel from before the Stargate. Anna-Louise Plowman is chilling as Osiris, all feline arrogance, and making the host a woman Daniel loved is a very effective cruelty. The episode pulls it off: it reactivates pure Egyptian mythology at a time when the series was drifting away from it. Elegant and promising.
