Point of View is episode 6 of season 3 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 1999.
The quantum mirror acts up again: another Samantha Carter, a civilian and the widow of Jack O'Neill, arrives in our reality with Major Kawalsky, fleeing an Earth fallen to Apophis. Their only hope: convincing our SG-1 to call on the Asgard for help in their world. Two Carters, an impossible grief and an invasion to turn back.
Why it matters to the mythology
Alternate realities become a recurring tool, and entropic cascade failure sets their rules: no one can stay long in a world that isn't their own.
The review
The spiritual sequel to season 1's masterpiece, and it holds its own. Amanda Tapping plays two distinct Carters, right down to their posture, and the kiss between the other Sam and our Jack quietly opens the romantic file the series will take eight years to close. The final assault, resolved with a hologram of Thor, is a treat. Mirror stories really are the franchise's best laboratory.
