Foothold is episode 14 of season 3 of Stargate SG-1, first aired in 1999.
Back from a mission, Carter finds the SGC strangely normal... too normal. Aliens have taken on the appearance of the staff using mimetic harnesses, and she's the only one who sees the truth. Hunted in her own base, not knowing who is still human, Sam can only count on an ally as unlikely as he is cumbersome: Maybourne.
Why it matters to the mythology
A top-tier standalone episode; the SGC will come out of this intrusion with a healthy dose of paranoia and a few more protocols.
The review
The series' best paranoid thriller. The direction makes brilliant use of the familiar setting turned against us: every SGC corridor becomes hostile, every face suspicious. Carter in solo survival mode is magnificent, and the forced pairing with Maybourne works so well that the series will remember it. Invasion of the Body Snatchers revisited, Stargate-style: yes, a thousand times yes.
