Stargate Infinity
The black sheep of the saga
26 episodes
Heads up, this one's an oddity. Infinity is an animated series released in 2002, but it has almost nothing to do with the rest. It was produced by a different studio, DiC, without any involvement from the franchise's creators. The result: it isn't recognized as canon and sits completely apart from the official continuity. A curiosity, yes. A true Stargate work in the strict sense, no.
Where to watch (France)
In the distant future, an SGC team wrongly accused of treason has to flee through the Stargate, from world to world, to prove its innocence. Aimed at a young audience, this animated series serves up colorful alien creatures and heavy-handed moral lessons, with no real connection to the rest of the franchise.
Why it matters to the mythology
None: produced by another studio without the saga's creators, the series is officially outside the continuity and left no mark on the mythology.
The review
Let's be honest: Stargate Infinity is the ugly duckling of the family, and the franchise itself has placed it outside its official continuity. This 2002 animated series, designed for a young Saturday-morning audience, sends a team into the distant future with colorful aliens and heavy-handed moral lessons. The animation is dated, the tone watered down, and none of the mythological richness that makes the saga so precious is anywhere to be found. Purists ignore it, and you can see why. What's left is a curiosity for completists, the kind of thing you watch once just to say you did, telling yourself that even the greatest sagas are entitled to a misstep. Strictly for the franchise's archaeologists.
