Identity is episode 18 of season 5 of Stargate Atlantis, first aired in 2008.
Keller is no longer herself, literally: a thief named Neeva, light-years away, wakes up in her body every time she sleeps, a swap driven by an Ancient device used without an instruction manual. While Keller's body ransacks Atlantis with a burglar's instincts, her consciousness faces execution in a medieval dungeon.
Why it matters to the mythology
A standalone episode: the consciousness transfer device joins the display case of Ancient gadgets not to be touched.
The review
The regulation body swap, saved by the pleasure of an actress playing both sides: Jewel Staite as a cunning criminal testing the limits of her new life is worth the detour, and so is her gentle, wide-eyed version in the medieval mud. The plot follows the genre's rails without major surprises, but the pace holds and the resolution doesn't drag. An honest Tuesday night of science fiction. Entertaining, forgettable, and owning it.
