Incursion (Part 2) is episode 20 of season 1 of Stargate Universe, first aired in 2009.
The battle for Destiny bogs down in blood: executions, ultimatums, and a firefight that leaves Kiva and TJ on the ground, the pregnant young woman between life and death. The soldiers, expelled to a planet by their captors, gamble everything on their return while the solar flare scrambles everything. The credits roll in total uncertainty: who holds the ship, who is still breathing?
Why it matters to the mythology
The franchise's cruelest cliffhanger: TJ hit, the crew imprisoned, the fate of the baby and the ship left hanging until season 2.
The review
A war finale without catharsis: the series refuses the triumphant retaking and closes its first year on a bloody inventory, hostages penned in, TJ between two worlds, command in pieces. That nerve, ending on an infirmary rather than an explosion, defines SGU better than any manifesto. You rage, you admire, you wait for what comes next holding your breath. The boldest season of the Stargate universe closes with clenched teeth. Bravo.
