Meurik

Meurik is the governor of a village that, centuries later, still keeps alive the cult of King Arthur and Merlin. Attached to the old legends, he takes a dim view of SG-1 coming to dig into Camelot's past.

For Meurik, the tales of Merlin and Arthur are not mere stories: they are sacred truths that must not be disturbed. The arrival of SG-1, in search of Merlin's weapon, upsets this ancient order.

Between mistrust, superstition and fear of a ghostly knight who guards the village, Meurik illustrates how hard it is to face the truth when you have built your life on legend. A fine character about the clash between myth and reality.

Meurik is played by John Noble, a great Australian actor, unforgettable as Denethor the Steward in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and as the brilliant Dr. Walter Bishop in the series Fringe. A heavyweight for the role of a keeper of legends.
